Ananda Art Show Opens March 29TH

Can wandering through an art exhibit
improve your health?

The Healing Power of Nature, a show where
artists interpret this theme, will open on
Saturday, March 29, from 11:30 to 4:30 at
the Lotus Building Art Gallery in downtown
Ananda Village.

Studies have shown that viewing an art exhibit can significantly decrease systolic blood pressure. Other studies have shown art and culture can lower levels of cortisol, a stress hormone, leading to improved mood and overall well-being.

In addition, quietly walking through an art gallery and viewing art in-person, versus just viewing art digitally or watching a movie has far more positive effects.

Art exhibits can trigger a sense of awe, which is a powerful psychological state that can lead to a deeper sense of meaning and connection to the world. Regular positive activation of the mind, like walking slowly through art exhibits or visiting tulip gardens, can increase the plasticity of the brain, allowing you to grow new pathways that ultimately boost your perception and contribute to cognitive reserve, which helps prevent against dementia.

Nature heals us by reducing stress and anxiety. By boosting mood and cognitive function, nature promotes physical and mental well-being. How each artist interprets “The Healing Power of Nature” can offer a doorway to our own inner healing.

The Healing Power of Nature show is open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays only, from
11:30 to 4:30 pm from March 29th to May 4th, 2025, during the Springtime at Ananda Tulip Festival held each April at the nearby Crystal Hermitage Gardens.
